Week One of the Derby City Classic

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - On February 28, 2025, Spalding University's baseball team defeated Millikin University 13-2 in a seven-inning game at Derby City Field.

The Golden Eagles set the tone early, scoring five runs in the first inning and adding six more in the second, establishing an 11-0 lead by the end of the second inning. They tallied 15 hits in total, while Millikin managed four. 

Spalding's pitcher, Cameron Rayborn, earned the win, improving his record to 1-1 for the season.

This win elevated Spalding's season record to 2-2, while Millikin's record fell to 3-2.

Spalding secured a 12-5 victory over Ohio Northern on March 2, 2025, at Derby City Field. 

The Golden Eagles broke open the game in the third inning with a three-run homer from Matthew McDowell, taking a 4-1 lead. They extended their advantage in the fourth with key hits from Evan Fisher, Whitt Callahan, and Ethan Tuttle, capitalizing on Ohio Northern's defensive miscues to go up 8-1. Spalding added insurance runs in the fifth, sealing the win. The victory improved their season record to 3-3.
