GREENVILLE, Ill. - Spalding University women's soccer team continued their historic season and postseason run with a statement 4-0 victory over Webster University in the SLIAC Semifinal on November 6, 2025.
TURNING POINT
The Golden Eagles came out focused and composed, controlling possession and dictating the tempo early on. After trading chances through the opening 30 minutes, Spalding broke through in the 34th minute when
Madison Dziedzic found the back of the net to give her team a 1-0 lead. The goal shifted the momentum firmly in Spalding's favor, as the Golden Eagles continued to press the Webster back line and closed the first half with a commanding 10-2 edge in total shots.
The second half was all Spalding, as the Golden Eagles' relentless attack and organized defense took full control of the match.
Maddie Campbell doubled the lead in the 56th minute off a pass from
Elle Trentman, igniting a flurry of goals that sealed the win. Just six minutes later, Trentman added one of her own, finishing a setup from
Karolyn Lighthall to make it 3-0. Campbell capped off her strong performance with her second goal of the night in the 72nd minute, putting the match out of reach and solidifying Spalding's trip to the SLIAC Championship. On the defensive end, goalkeeper
Sophie Young-Neawedde recorded one save en route to another shutout, supported by a disciplined back line that limited Webster to just five total shots and only one on target.
