LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Spalding men's basketball played SLIAC opponent MUW on Saturday. SU came out with the win, 48-37.
The Golden Eagles moved to 11-6 (9-1 SLIAC), while the Owls fell to 8-9 (5-5 SLIAC).
TURNING POINT
Spalding men's basketball built a 28-26 halftime lead against Mississippi University for Women with a strong defensive presence and efficient offense. The Golden Eagles came out aggressive, forcing early turnovers and capitalizing in transition. Their inside game proved effective, with dominant rebounding leading to second-chance points. MUW responded with perimeter shooting, but Spalding's defense held firm, contesting shots and limiting open looks. The Golden Eagles maintained composure under pressure, executing well in half-court sets and controlling the pace.
Spalding's defense took control in the second half, holding MUW to just 11 points while applying relentless pressure and forcing difficult shots. The Golden Eagles capitalized on their defensive stops with patient offensive execution, extending their lead with efficient scoring inside and timely perimeter shooting. Spalding's rebounding dominance continued to limit MUW's second-chance opportunities. Despite some scoring droughts, Spalding maintained composure and controlled the tempo, ultimately securing the 48-37 victory.
