LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Spalding women's basketball played SLIAC opponent Principia on Tuesday. SU came out with the win, 74-52.
The Golden Eagles moved to 12-6 (10-1 SLIAC), while the Panthers fell to 4-14 (1-10 SLIAC).
TURNING POINT
From the outset, Spalding asserted their presence on both ends of the court. The Golden Eagles' offense was potent, amassing 41 points in the first half, while their defense was equally formidable, limiting Principia to just 24 points. This 17-point halftime lead was a testament to Spalding's efficiency and defensive prowess. A key factor in Spalding's first-half success was their control of the paint, where they scored 44 points throughout the game. The Golden Eagles also capitalized on second-chance opportunities, contributing to their 20 second-chance points. Their defensive intensity forced turnovers, leading to 18 points off turnovers, and their fast-break execution added 11 points to the scoreboard.
In the second half, Spalding continued to apply pressure, both offensively and defensively. The Golden Eagles added 33 points to their tally while holding Principia to 28 points.
