The Spalding University women's basketball team delivered an impressive performance, defeating the Blackburn Beavers 76-55 in a St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) matchup.
SU moved to 3-9 (2-3 SLIAC), while the Beavers fell to 1-11 (0-5 SLIAC).
TURNING POINT
The Golden Eagles set the tone early, dominating the first quarter with a commanding 24-9 lead. Their offensive rhythm and defensive intensity stifled Blackburn, limiting their scoring opportunities. Spalding continued their strong play in the second quarter, outscoring the Beavers to head into halftime with a comfortable 42-27 advantage.
Spalding's defense took center stage in the third quarter, holding Blackburn to just nine points while extending their lead to 57-36. Despite a more competitive fourth quarter where both teams scored 19 points apiece, the Golden Eagles' early dominance proved too much for the Beavers to overcome, sealing a decisive 21-point victory.
