LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Nevaeh Davis of Nicholas County High School in Carlisle, KY, has deposited and committed to the Spalding University women's basketball program for the Fall of 2024 semester. Davis will study Social Work at Spalding.
Davis, a 5'8" forward, was a four-sport athlete in high school including being a three-year varsity starter in basketball. At Nicholas County she competed on the softball, volleyball, and track teams respectively during her high school career. She also spent time with the Nicholas County Junior ROTC & Raiders programs. Davis has competed on the Nicholas County varsity squad since her 7th grade year. Davis' senior campaign was a huge success. She was recognized for her accomplishments with a 38th District All-Tournament Team recognition. She also garnered both an All "A" Classic All-Tournament Team and a Raceland Classic All-Tournament Team award honors respectively. In her senior year she was also a senior team captain. During her high school career she helped guide the Nicholas County program to two District 38 Championships, including one this past season. This season her squad also won the All "A" Classic Championship and were a 2024 State Semifinalist for Region 10 which marked the first time in 29 years Nicholas County held that distinction. Davis played a huge role in that success for Nicholas County this past season and over her high school career. This year she averaged 8.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. In her career she amassed 500 career points and just shy of 500 rebounds with 492 hitting her final tally.
Spalding University's women's basketball coach
Ben Arsenault believes Davis will be a positive addition to his program. Nevaeh is a wonderful person who will contribute mightily to our program and locker room. She is a tireless worker, a good teammate, and is someone who possesses leadership qualities. I am thrilled that Nevaeh has chosen to come to Spalding and I believe that she will bring a unique positive perspective and enthusiasm to our locker room. On the court, Nevaeh does all the little things well. She rebounds, doesn't mind putting her body on the line for charges, and anticipates in pressing situations. Offensively, she hits the offensive glass extremely well and is someone who can provide a boost from the mid range and around the basket. Nevaeh has a lot of potential and I am excited to continue watching her grow these next four years. Welcome to the family, Nevaeh!" - Coach Arsenault
Nicholas County's Head Coach, Greg Letcher is proud of what Davis has accomplished under his tutelage. "Nevaeh has made tremendous improvement, through commitment and hard work over the course of her middle and high school basketball career. I'm extremely proud of her and the role she played in our team's success. I look forward to watching her grow as a person and basketball player at Spalding." - Coach Letcher
Davis feels at home at Spalding. "The first day I stepped on campus it just gave me a feeling like home. The program is set up in a way that you aren't overwhelmed, the coaches and staff are the best. They're always there to answer questions and help you get ready. I'm beyond ready to get this school year started!!"
