LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Spalding University women's basketball team picked up a key 76–67 victory over Lyon College in the SLIAC Quarterfinal on Wednesday night. The Golden Eagles improved to 14-12 overall and 9-7 in SLIAC play, while the Scots dropped to 12-15, 8-8 SLIAC on the season.

Spalding came out with energy in the first quarter, outscoring Lyon 23-13 to seize early control. The Golden Eagles maintained their advantage through halftime and continued to hold off late pushes from the Scots in a competitive second half. Spalding's balanced attack and stout defense helped them preserve their lead down the stretch in front of a home crowd at the Derek Smith Gymnasium.

Zaneiya Batiste, who finished with 22 points and 17 rebounds, anchoring both the offense and the boards. Guard
Nicole Hollowell contributed 20 points and 9 rebounds, while
Kennedy Brown provided a spark off the bench with 12 points. Guard
Anastasia Dowlen added 9 points and 17 rebounds, giving the Golden Eagles crucial depth and hustle throughout the contest.
Lyon was paced by Kaysharia Woods, who scored 17 points in the loss. Natalya Kaza added 14 points, and Alyssa Abascal chipped in 11. Despite several strong individual efforts, the Scots couldn't quite overcome Spalding's consistent scoring and rebounding presence.
