Golden Eagles down the Grizzlies

FRANKLIN, In. – Spalding women's lacrosse traveled to HCLC opponent Franklin on Wednesday. The Golden Eagles took the win, 11-7

SU moved to 5-9 (3-2 HCLC) on the season, while the Grizzlies fell to 2-7 (1-3 HCLC).

TURNING POINT
The Golden Eagles started hot in this one. Taylor Young got SU on the board a minute into the game. Emma Beach kept the rally going as she scored just a minute later. As the clock ticked, it reached seven minutes remaining. Beach tallied her second goal of the game, making it 3-0 for SU. The Grizzlies did not back down. For the rest of the quarter, it was all Franklin. They scored two goals to make it a one-goal game at the end of the quarter.

Both sides were playing phenomenal defense in the second quarter. With the clock hitting a minute left in the quarter, Beach came up big again. She netted her third goal of the game, giving her a hat trick. Spalding took the lead into halftime, 4-2.

Beach came out seeking more goals. She tallied three straight goals to give Spalding a bigger lead, 7-2. With three minutes remaining, the Grizzlies snagged a goal of their own. Young responded well for SU. She tallied a goal just a minute later. SU is ahead at the end of the third, 8-3.

The Golden Eagles started the fourth quarter well, as Mahalia Dominguez tallied a goal with 14 minutes remaining. Izabel Cruz also netted a goal to push Spalding ahead, 10-3. The Grizzlies responded with a goal of their own just a minute later. SU was leading 10-4 with seven minutes remaining. Dominguez snagged another goal to give SU their 11th goal of the game. Franklin tried to fight back into this one, as they tallied three goals of their own. It wasn't enough as SU went on to win, 11-7.
