Women's Lacrosse dominates in Cincy

CINCINNATI, Oh. – Spalding women's lacrosse traveled to Heartland (HCLC) opponent Mount St. Joseph on Sunday. The Golden Eagles took the win, 14-2.

SU improved to 4-9 (2-2 HCLC), while the Lions fell to 1-12 (0-5 HCLC).

TURNING POINT
This game was all Spalding from the very beginning. Mahalia Dominguez got things rolling, scoring just a minute into the game. Taylor Young made an impact just two minutes later. She netted a goal to give the Golden Eagles a two-goal cushion. The momentum was all towards SU. Emma Beach got into the scoring column with 10 minutes left in the first quarter. As the clock ticked down, Young tallied two more, giving her a first-quarter hat trick. SU had the lead at the end of the first, 6-0.

Young continued her great performance by netting a goal two minutes into the second quarter. Three minutes went by, and Kathryn Moore joined the scoring, making it 7-0. Just as halftime was about to hit, the Lions snagged one of their own. SU took the lead into the half, 7-1.

The third quarter was Moore's quarter. She scored all three goals for the Golden Eagles, giving her a total of four goals for the game. Isabella Mullins's goalkeeping held firm and SU ended the third quarter winning, 10-1.

Mount St. Joseph opened the fourth quarter strong, scoring 30 seconds in. Dominguez followed with two of her own, giving her a hat trick for the game. Two minutes passed, and Moore netted her fifth goal of the game. Beach put the cherry on top with a goal with six minutes left. The defense held strong for the Golden Eagles, and SU won 14-2.

Spalding will travel to HCLC opponent Franklin on Wednesday. The first draw control will take place at 6 p.m.
