LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Spalding women's soccer hosted Brescia University on Monday. Spalding extended their win-streak to three. The Golden Eagles beat the Bearcats 1-0.
SU moved to 10-4-3 on the season, while BU fell to 5-10-1.
TURNING POINT
The first half began with both teams applying attacking pressure to one another. This was a physical matchup for both sides as the Bearcats grabbed two cautions. The Golden Eagles tallied nine first half shots, but could not find the backside of the net. Both sides went into halftime scoreless, 0-0.
Coach Vejar had a tremendous halftime speech as Spalding came out seeking vengeance. The Golden Eagles went straight onto the attack, racking up 18 shots in the half. SU was having trouble scoring until two minutes left in the game.
Faith Rutherford made an amazing pass over to
Karolyn Lighthall. Lighthall finished it in the back of the net to give Spalding a 1-0 advantage.
Olivia Bosch and the Golden Eagles held firm for the remainder of this one. SU took the win 1-0 and made history. Spalding recorded their 10th shutout of the season, breaking the previous school record of nine.
