Women's Soccer tallies 11th Shutout; Advances to SLIAC Semifinal

LOUISVILLE, Ky. –  Spalding women's soccer hosted SLIAC opponent Principia on Saturday for the SLIAC Quarterfinal. SU took the win 1-0 and advanced to the SLIAC Semifinal on Wednesday.

The Golden Eagles are now 11-4-3 on the season, while Principia ended their season with a record of 4-11.

TURNING POINT
Spalding opened the SLIAC Quarterfinal with an aggressive mindset. The Golden Eagles kept the pressure on the Panthers goalkeeper in the first half, outshooting them 5-0. Both teams played tough defense, which made it hard for both teams to reach the box. Due to the great display of defense provided in the first half, the score at the half was 0-0.

At the start of the second half, you could see the energy from the Golden Eagles. Coach Jordan Vejar must've had a great halftime speech, causing Spalding to come out looking like a different team. Just 15 minutes into the half, Spalding finally broke the ice. Emma Livingston hammered a shot right past the Panthers' goalkeeper off of an assist from Jaelyn Dodson. Spalding kept the pressure on the Panthers for the rest of the half, tallying seven shots on goal. The Golden Eagles' defense held firm and kept Principia from tallying a shot the entire game. SU secured the win 1-0.

GOLDEN EAGLE NOTES NEXT FOR SPALDING
