Men's Basketball takes down the Beavers

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – On Tuesday, Spalding men's basketball hosted St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) opponent Blackburn. The Golden Eagles defeated the Beavers 64-57. This is the second consecutive conference win for SU.

SU moved to 2-4 (2-0 SLIAC), while the Beavers fell to 2-5 (1-1 SLIAC) on the season.

TURNING POINT
To begin the first half, Spalding got on the scoreboard first. A steal by Caden Bradford led to a fast break layup by Anthony Dillard. The opening half was a competitive one, as both teams battled back and forth, as the score hit 8-8. A basket by Bradford sparked a 7-1 run for the Golden Eagles giving them a 15-9 advantage. The Beavers did not back off, as they went on a run of their own to make it 19-16, in favor of SU. It was a battle until the end of the half as Spalding took the halftime lead, 29-24.

Both Dillard and Emmanuel Rislin each hit made tough layups to help Spalding start the half on an 8-1 run. From here on out, the second half was very similar to the first. The Beavers tried to get back into the game, but Spalding was too much to handle. The last five minutes was a free throw contest for each side. SU got the best of it and held on to win, 64-57.

GOLDEN EAGLE NOTES
