Senior Day Comeback

LOUISVILLE, Ky. –  The Spalding men's soccer team won on Senior Day against St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponent Principia College, 3-2. The Golden Eagles moved to 8-5-3 (5-2-2 SLIAC) while the Panthers fell to 3-12-1 (1-7-1 SLIAC).

TURNING POINT
The first half was not the strongest for the Golden Eagles. Just two minutes into the game, the Panthers came out strong as they found the back of the net. Principia kept the pressure on Spalding. In the 24th minute, the Panthers scored again, making it 2-0. It was all momentum for Principia until the 40th minute. Chadrack Mulondani earned Spalding a penalty kick, and the Panthers received a red card. Mulondani nailed the penalty, while Principia had to play the rest of the game with a player down. SU went into the half down 1-2.

Spalding's momentum carried into the second half. The Golden Eagles kept the pressure on the 10-man Panthers the entire half. In the 62nd minute, Ethan Eckert took a freekick, about 30 yards out, which found Kevin Mulume, who headed the ball into the back of the net, to make it even at 2-2. That was not it for SU, as they kept firing shot after shot, giving them a total of 16 shots in the second half. Just 12 minutes later, Mustafa Almohammedawi scored the game-winning goal. Spalding takes the win to end Senior Day and the regular season, 3-2.
