EUREKA, Ill. – Spalding women's soccer traveled to Illinois on Saturday afternoon where they won 14-0 against St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) opponent Eureka College. The result moved Spalding to 5-6-3 (4-3-1 SLIAC) and the Red Devils fell to 0-12 (0-7 SLIAC).
TURNING POINT
In the first half, it was all SU. The Golden Eagles came out strong, firing two shots right away. Spalding dominated the first half, putting up shot after shot. At the 17th minute mark,
Melaney Frick put in the first goal of the game, with an assist from
Faith Rutherford. Just three minutes later, Frick again found the back of the net, with an assist from
Baeli Young. With the kickoff whistle just being blown, SU kept the pressure up, with
Macie Rawlins scoring her first goal of the season just seconds later. The offensive surge did not stop there for the Golden Eagles. In the final 25 minutes of the first half, Spalding put up four more goals from Rutherford, Young,
Kelli Bergmark, and
Holly Higgs. It was pure dominance by the Golden Eagles in the first half who went into the half up 7-0.
The second half was no different from the first. Just one minute into the half, Frick found the back of the net to secure her second career hat-trick. The Golden Eagles did not stop there. SU fired shot after shot, scoring six more goals in the half. Bergmark and Rutherford secured a brace, while

Lejla Salihovic,
Elle Trentman, and
Sophia Khatib found the back of the net. The Golden Eagles took this SLIAC road win, 14-0.
