LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Spalding University softball team takes two from Eureka. The Golden Eagles extend their record to 13-9 overall and 7-1 in SLIAC play.
Game 1: Spalding 6 Eureka 4
The Red Devils would score first in the first inning as they advance two runs to take the lead 2-0. Spalding would answer back int the bottom of the first as
Grayce Marcum would triple to right center field.
Jessica Tucker would walk and then steal second to put her into score position.
Bella Velez would reach first on a fielder's choice as she advanced Tucker to third and scored Marcum to cut the lead in half.
Madison Loechle would hit a sacrifice fly to left field to score Tucker for the Golden Eagles' second run. In the second inning,
Kailey Reed would earn herself a walk and then score on the homerun by
Rylee Phillips two give SU the two-run advantage. Despite Eureka gaining one run back in the fifth, Spalding would tack on two more in the bottom of the frame. Tucker and
Andrea Watts would score on Loechle's double to earn those two runs for the 6-3 lead. Eureka would score their final run in the sixth inning giving Spalding the win, 6-4.
Erica McMann picks up her eighth win in the circle for SU to advance to 8-3 on the season.
Rylee Phillips goes 2-for-4 with a run, two RBIs, and a homerun while
Grayce Marcum goes 2-for-4 with a run, a stolen base, and a triple.
Madison Loechle finishes 1-for-2 with a double, a sac fly, and three RBIs.
Game 2: Spalding 11 Eureka 3
Spalding would get the early advantage as they score two runs in the bottom of the first. A bases loaded single by
Allison Nell would score Tucker and Marcum who had reached earlier in the inning as Spalding has the 2-0 lead. Spalding would push two more across in the second and third innings for a 4-1 lead. The Red Devils would threaten to take the lead in the fifth as they take advantage of errors to score three runs. The SU offense would but open in the bottom of the fifth as they score three more to give them the 7-3 lead. Spalding would cap off the game with a four run sixth inning to run rule the Red Devils in six innings with a score of 11-3.

Grayce Marcum goes 2-for-4 with a run, an RBI, and two stolen bases.
Madison Loechle went 1-for-1 with two runs, a double, one RBI, and three walks.
Allison Nell goes 2-for-3 with a run and four RBIs.
