DANVILLE, Ky. – The Spalding softball team starts their season off 2-2 at the Centre College Round Robin.
Game 1: Transy 28 Spalding 0
The Golden Eagles started their season off with the loss to Transylvania 28-0.
Erica McMann picks up her first loss on the season.
Madison Loechle and Miranda Thomas each went 1-for-3.
Game 2: Centre 9 Spalding 8
Bella Velez picks up her first loss of the season as Spalding loses by one run.
Rylee Phillips went 3-for-4 driving in two runs and scoring once herself as
Bella Velez,
Jessica Tucker, and Miranda Thomas each went 2-for-4. Spalding would take advantage of Centre errors as Velez,
Grayce Marcum, and
Madison Loechle each scored in the first. Spalding would continue to tack on runs going into the final innings. The Colonels would tie the score at 8 in the bottom of the seventh with the winning run scored on a single down the right field line.
Game 3: Spalding 14 Olivet 6
Spalding was able to come back in day two of the round robin getting a 14-6 win over Olivet.
Kori Calvert gets the win as
Bella Velez comes in to secure the win for the Golden Eagles. Spalding scores four in the first inning followed by a big 5-run fifth inning to seal the win.
Rylee Phillips went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a walk as
Jessica Tucker goes 3-for-3 with two RBIs and a walk.
Game 4: Spalding 12 Centre 4
Erica McMann evens her record in the win over Centre. In the rematch, Spalding would score three in the first inning followed by a five run fourth to get the win.
Rylee Phillips ends the game 2-for-3 with a walk as
Jessica Tucker finishes 3-for-4 with three RBIs.
Grayce Marcum and
Bella Velez each finish 3-for-4 with a combined five RBIs.
