LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Spalding University softball team goes 2-0 on the day against the visiting Harriers of Miami Hamilton. The Golden Eagles extend their record to 4-2 on the season.
Game 1: Spalding 10 - Miami 0
The Golden Eagles would start the scoring off early as Miami would load the bases in the bottom of the first with
Bella Velez up to bat. Velez would single up the middle scoring Spalding's first run.
Grayce Marcum would send a ball down the right field line for a three-run triple to clear the bases.
Allison Nell scored Marcum on her ground out to the shortstop to give Spalding the 5-0 lead at the end of the first inning.
Jessica Tucker would tack on two more for the Golden Eagles on a single to left field in the bottom of the second. Tucker and Velez would each get hits in the bottom of the fourth to put runners at second and third. Marcum would hit her second triple of the day to give Spalding a 9-0 lead. Nell would score Marcum for the final run for Spalding on a single to left field. The Golden Eagles would win the first game in five innings with a final score of 10-0.

Grayce Marcum and
Jessica Tucker each go 3-for-3 with a combined seven RBIs with Marcum hitting two triples.
Bella Velez went 2-for3 with a double and an RBI.
Game 2: Spalding 11 - Miami 5
Miami would score first in the top of the third as the Harriers would take advantage of fielding errors. The Harriers would tack on one more in the top of the fourth on a triple down the right field line giving Miami and 2-0 advantage. Spalding would answer back in the bottom of the fourth as they push three runs across the plate to give them the one-run lead. Despite Miami adding two more runs, the Golden Eagles would fight back and score five more runs off six hits on one error in the fifth inning. Spalding would cap off the game with a three run sixth inning giving them the win 11-5.

Grayce Marcum each finish 2-for-4 with two RBIs apiece.
Jessica Tucker finishes 4-for-4 with a double, an RBI, and a stolen base.
Up next, the Golden Eagles will compete in the Pioneer Classic in Elizabethtown, Ky. with double headers on Saturday, March 19
th and Sunday, March 20
th. Spalding will face Anderson in game one of the classic on Saturday with a start time of 10:00 am ET.
