ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Spalding women's soccer team played to a draw, 1-1, with Fontbonne Saturday afternoon. With the draw, the Golden Eagles move to 2-3-1 on the season and 0-1-1 in conference play.
The Golden Eagles took advantage of an opportunity late in the first half when a
Keely Ashby shot was saved by Fontbonne goalkeeper Mary Beers, but
Faith Rutherford was in position to collect the rebound and send a shot into the back of the net to put SU in front, 1-0, heading into halftime. The Griffins' Katie Leeker knotted the game at 1-1 scoring a goal off a corner kick from Kiersyn Weaver.
Jordan Schneider had an outstanding game in the net tallying nine saves while allowing one goal.
