DANVILLE, Ky. - The Spalding men's soccer team opened The Bob Allen Nissan Classic with a 2-2 draw against Oberlin College Friday evening in Danville, Ky. With the tie, Spalding moves to 1-2-1 on the seaosn.
Spalding opened up the scoring off a cross from
Drake Pyle that resulted in a own goal by Oberlin in the 23
rd minute. The Golden Eagles let in a goal in the 34
th minute and went into halftime tied, 1-1.
In the second
half, Spalding gave up another goal in the 66
th minute and still trailed, 2-1, with under a minute play. However, the Golden Eagles showed conviction and a late foul resulted in a free kick. With 17 seconds left in regulation, Chad Mulondani knifed the free kick though the defense and into back left side of the net from just outside the 18 to tie the score at two apiece sending it to overtime. Neither team was able to find a golden-goal and the game resulted in a 2-2 tie at the end of 110 minutes of play. Spalding goalkeeper Trever Massa recorded four saves on the night

Spalding men's soccer will be back in action Saturday, September 11 at 5:30 PM EST taking on Covenant College in game two of the Bob Allen Classic.
