LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Spalding women's soccer team earned the number four seed in the SLIAC Conference Tournament. The Golden Eagles are set to take on the fifth seed Greenville as they host the match at the Spalding Athletic Complex in Louisville, Ky. The Golden Eagles and Panthers split their regular season games each winning a contest on golden goals.
Head coach,
Shilo Rayburn, help lead his team to a .500 season overall with a record of 4-4 and 4-3 in SLIAC conference play. Although on a four-game losing streak, the Golden Eagles have tallied a total of 18 goals this season along with two shutouts. Freshman,
Baeli Young, leads the team with 6 goals and 4 assists for a total of 16 points.
Dori Emig,
Bailey Whitehead, and
Faith Rutherford each have two goals this season. Keeper,
Jordan Schneider has a 1.96 goals-against average this year with a total of 29 saves in five starts.
The Greenville Panthers are 4-4 in SLIAC play and 6-4 overall. Coach Jeff Wardlaw has led his team to a five-game winning streak coming into tournament play. Greenville has not allowed a goal in their last three games and have scored the second most goals this season with 30 while achieving 4 shutouts ranking them 3
rd in the SLIAC. Jen De Leon leads the Panthers' team with 7 goals, accounting for 14 points. Emma Cadwell tallied a total of 9 assists placing her second in the league. Grace Gehner has played over 700 minutes in the net for Greenville while making 33 saves and achieving a 1,37 goals-against average.
The quarterfinal match between the Golden Eagles and Panther will kick off Monday, April 19 at 6:00 p.m. ET at the Spalding Athletic Complex in Louisville, Ky.
