WOOSTER, Oh. – The Spalding University men's basketball team competed in their first game at the Wooster Rotary Classic against Ripon who defeated the Golden Eagles, 66-75. Spalding advances to 1-4 on the season as they go into the second day of the classic.
As we hit tip-off, Ripon would go on a 7-0 run on the Golden Eagles until
Christian Stewart broke the streak with a short jumper for two. The Red Hawks would continue to extend the lead as the first half ends with a 16-point lead. The Golden Eagles would turn the offense around in the second half as they would go on a 8-2 run to cut the lead down to 12. The Spalding offense could not convert as the Red Hawks outshoot the Golden Eagles to secure the win, 66-75.
Troy Amanor would lead the team with 17 points and six rebounds as
Tylan Mann follows closely behind with 14 points and two rebounds.
The Golden Eagles will continue with day two of the classic as they face-off against Saint Vincent Saturday, November 20
th at 5:30 pm ET.
