LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Spalding men's soccer team won a hard-fought contest at home against Fontbonne, 4-2, Wednesday evening. With the win, the Golden Eagles now sit at a record of 9-6-1 and are 8-3 in conference play.

The Golden Eagles jumped out to an early 2-0 lead with a pair of goals by Ahmadou Gueye. A corner kick shot directly into goal from Chris Encarnacion gave Spalding a 3-0 lead. In the last five minute of the first half, Fontbonne had a run reducing Spalding's lead to 3-2 heading into the half. After a hard-fought second half sophomore Ethan Eckert scored the final goal of the game to give Spalding a 4-2 lead securing the win. 

Goalkeepers Trevor Massa and Danny Hernandez combined for a total of 4 saves and only 2 goals allowed. Ahmadou Gueye bagged his 10^th and 11^th goals of the season as well as collecting an assist. 

The Golden Eagles will be back in action hosting the Westminster Blue Jays on Saturday, Octoner 23 at 1:00 p.m. ET.
