Golden Eagles pull away late to top Eureka, 78-69

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Spalding men's basketball team secures a win over Eureka, 78-69.

THE BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The game started out as an exchange of points between teams. Eventually, the Red Devils pulled away and got up to a 10-point lead over the Golden Eagles. However, with a drained three-pointer by Brian Tribble, the Golden Eagles began making a comeback. With 29 seconds left in the half, Jaiquan Edwards sunk a jumper to cut their deficit to a miniscule three points going into the second half.
 
- With good offense, defense, and a jumper by Mitchell Prince, the Golden Eagles took the lead once again with 13:32 left in the game. Braeden Warren followed with another jumper to extend the lead to 45-41.
 
- Eureka continued to fight back, regaining a one-point lead at 8:16, but their advantage was soon lost with a layup from Warren, followed by a three-pointer by Marcus Montgomery.
 
- With 5:46 left in the game, the score was tied once again at 56-56. From there, the Red Devils took the lead for 21 seconds until Prince drained another three followed by a three from Tribble. This begun the momentum for the Golden Eagles as they pushed all the way to a nine-point lead to end the game 78-69.
 
- Jaiquan Edwards led the team in scoring with 20 points, five rebounds, and three blocks. Marcus Montgomery followed closely securing 18 points for the Eagles. Brain Tribble obtained his first double-double of the season with 15 points and 13 rebounds.
 
FOR THE FOES
- Jordan Dehm led the Red Devils with 20 points and two rebounds.
