ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Spalding University women's soccer team went 0-2 on the weekend falling to Allegheny, 2-1, in their season opener, and lost to Wittenberg, 3-0, in their final game at the Mount Union Kickoff Classic.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Against Allegheny, the Golden Eagles struggled to find their offense early allowing the Gators to jump out to a 2-0 lead following goals in the fifth and 40
th minutes. Spalding found the back of the net in the 42
nd minute cutting the deficit to one goal when
Shelby Deering fired a shot past the keeper off a feed from
Hanna Watson. However, the Gator defense would clamp down in the second half allowing just one Spalding shot attempt in the final 45 minutes. Despite the loss,
Kayla Strehle (0-1-0) had a solid performance in the net collecting seven saves, while giving two goals.
Similar to game one, the Golden Eagle offense struggled against Wittenberg as they were outshot by the Tigers, 28-2, for the game. Even with a great effort in the net by Strehle, the Tigers were able to sneak past a trio of goals in the 58
th, 62
nd and 67
th minute to end the game in a 3-0 decision. Strehle (0-2-0) finished the game with 14 saves giving her 21 saves on the weekend.
