LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Spalding women's soccer team competed hard against Brescia and Oakland City on Friday and Wednesday night respectively. The Golden Eagles defeated both teams, 3-1, at Brescia and, 4-0, at home against Oakland City. With the wins Spalding improves to 2-2-0 on the season.
SPALDING 3 – BRESCIA 1
- Against Brescia, following a trio of saves by goalkeeper
Dori Emig and a Brescia goal, senior
Kelsie Huffman scored the equalizer to tie the game, 1-1, in the 14
th minute. A little under fifteen minutes later, freshman
Shelby Deering scored on a pass from fellow freshman
Mazie Burrow to put the Golden Eagles in from, 2-1, heading into the half. In the 52
nd minute,
Hanna Watson drove home the final goal of the game, her first on the season, to run the final score to 3-1.
- In her first start in the net, Emig (1-0-0) earned with collecting eight saves, while surrendering one goal.
SPALDING 4 – OAKLAND CITY 0
- On Wednesday, Spalding started quick against Oakland City, scoring in the first ten minutes of the game.
Kelsie Huffman put away her second goal of the season off a pass from Hannah Watson. Seven minutes later, in the fifteenth minute, Huffman put away another goal, this time off a pass from fellow senior
Abby McGimsey, pushing the lead to 2-0. In the second half, McGimsey scored the third goal for Spalding from the penalty spot. Spalding's final goal of the game came from
Hanna Watson off a feed from
Bailey Whitehead.

Dori Emig (2-0-0) earned her second win on the week earning a shutout while finishing with three stops.
