GREENVILLE, Ill. – The Golden Eagles dropped their SLIAC tournament second round game against Webster, 8-1, but bounced back to shutout Greenville, 9-0, to advance the championship round Sunday at SIU-Edwardsville. With the win, the Golden Eagles improve to 31-11 on the season.

The Golden Eagles jumped on the Panthers early plating three runs in the bottom of the first.
Eric Meyer singled to short scoring
Garrett Wilson for the first run of the game.
Quenton Brownlee followed Meyer with an RBI single up the middle bringing in Trentman.
Cody Milliner sent a fly ball to center field, and Meyer tagged and came home for the final run of the inning. Spalding added another run in the second inning when a Trentman single to left field drove in Byrce Spalding from second. In the third, SU extended their lead to 6-0. The first coming on a

Hayden Davenport (3-2) earned the shutout win, holding the Panthers to three hits, while striking out six. Freshman
JT Johnson closed out the final two innings allowing two hits, while striking out one batter.

Quenton Brownlee led the Golden Eagles at the plate each recording a pair of hits, while Trentman and Langley drove in a team-best two RBIs apiece.

A miscommunication in the outfield extended the third inning for Webster and the Gorloks took advantage plating four runs. The Golden Eagles took a run back in the bottom of the third on an
Evan Trentman single through the right side scoring
Cody Milliner, but the Gorloks went on to score two runs in the fourth and two in the eighth to run the final score to 8-1.
NOTABLE STATS
Jack Parisi (6-1) suffered the loss, allowing four earned runs, on eight hits, while striking out six, in 7.0 innings pitched.
Drew Switzer and
Logan Koch saw some relief action. Switzer allowed one earned run and struck out two, in 1 and 1/3 innings pitched, while Koch did not allow a hit or run, but hit one batter in 2/3 of an inning. Milliner and Trentman led Spalding at the plate each recording a pair of hits.
