First place Eagles sweep Blackburn, 6-5 and 9-0

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Spalding softball team swept Blackburn 6-5 and 9-0, improving their record to 25-10 overall and 12-2 in conference.

GAME ONE
Spalding 6 – Blackburn 5
The Golden Eagles started off hot as both Jennifer Peffley and Olivia Carter singled. They scored thanks to a three-run Avery Morris homer to put Spalding ahead 4-0 in the top of the first. After giving up three runs in the bottom of the first, Spalding added to their lead in the top of the second. Peffley came home on a wild pitch after having stolen both second and third base. The Beavers added a run in the bottom of the fifth, but Spalding closed the door with an Avery Morris RBI in the sixth.

GAME TWO
Spalding 9 – Blackburn 0
In the first inning, the Golden Eagles capitalized on a trio of Blackburn errors, scoring two runs on one hit to take a 2-0 lead. Avery Morris hit a solo home run in the second inning, putting Spalding ahead, 3-0. Ally Klein singled, advancing Jaycee Head to third, and scoring Lindsey Hubbard, still in the top of the second. Olivia Carter brought in Head with an RBI groundout to put the Eagles ahead, 5-0.
