LOUISVILLE, KY. – Spalding went 1-1 in a pair of games against Hanover College moving to 9-2 on the season.
GAME ONE
SPALDING 1 – HANOVER 0
As the Golden Eagles draw closer to conference games, Friday night was a preview of what is to come for opponents in the SLIAC. Spalding faced off against Hanover College and both teams proved to be defensive minded. Pitching for Spalding was
Oliva Carter. Carter pitched a complete game, allowing only six hits and giving up zero runs on the night. She struck out five batters on the evening as well. The Golden Eagle defense played extremely stout behind their pitcher. On the offensive side of the game,
Ally Klein went just 1-for-4 on the night, but she came up big when her team needed her the most. Klein had the lone RBI on the night bringing in
Amilia Hall for the game winning run in the bottom of the 7
th inning. With this win, Carter is now 4-1 in the circle on the season.
GAME TWO
HANOVER 10 – SPALDING 1
On 13 hits, the Panthers scored 10 runs. The Golden Eagles' defense gave up six runs in the third inning to fall behind, 9-1. Freshman pitcher
Bethany Wright pitched for 2 and 1/3 innings, giving up nine hits, nine runs, and zero strikeouts. After facing 16 batters in her time in the circle, Coach Williams made a change to freshman
Chloe Skorija. Skorija pitched for 2 and 1/3 innings giving up four hits, one run, and striking out one batter. She pitched well but Coach Williams pulled her in favor of
Makala Shepherd. Shepherd finished off the final out of the game for the Golden Eagles, giving up zero hits and zero runs without a strikeout. On the offensive end, Spalding was limited as well, registering only five hits on 20 at bats. The single run coming in the first inning when
Ally Klein ran home while the Panthers were occupied throwing out
Molly Wallace who was approaching second base. With this loss, the Golden Eagles are now sitting at 9-2 on the season and
Bethany Wright is 2-1.

Spalding will face two consecutive doubleheaders in the coming weekend, the first at home against Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology on March 23
rd at 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm, and hit the road to open SLIAC play at Blackburn College March 24
