MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Golden Eagles move to 2-0 on the season after topping North Park University, 13-3, Saturday at the Moe's Smokin' BBQ Classic.

HIGHLIGHTS
- The Golden Eagles jumped on the Vikings in the bottom of the first to take a three-run lead. After a walk, an error at short and a passed ball moved
Eric Meyer to second and
Dillon Sievert to third,
Quenton Brownlee ripped a triple into the left center gap bringing both runners across the plate for SU's first two runs of the game. Sophomore
Mitchell Langley followed Brownlee with a single through the left side bringing Q in for the final run of the inning.
- North Park responded with a pair of runs in the top of the second cutting the lead to one run, but with two outs and one runner on, the Golden Eagles pieced together four runs in the bottom of the third to push the lead back to four runs. Brownlee singled bringing in Sievert for his third RBI of the game. Back-to-back walks loaded the bases and an error at third allowed Brownlee and Langley to score making it 6-2, and
Jacob Reece scored on a wild pitch for the final run of the inning.

Eric Meyer double in the sixth scoring
Garrett Wilson and Sievert drove in three of the Golden Eagles seven runs over the remainder of the game as SU rolled to the 13-3 win.
STAT LEADERS
- Sophomore
Jack Parisi(1-0) earned his first win of the season. The right-hander limited the Vikings to two runs, while scattering four hits, striking out seven batters and walking two in 4.0 innings pitched. Senior
Hayden Davenport came on to earn the save holding North Park to one run, on two hits over the final three innings.
- Langley and Sievert both had a day at the plate, each going 3-for-3, with Langley driving two RBIs and scoring two runs, while Sievert scored three runs in one.
- Brownlee drove in a team-high three RBIs, while going 2-for-3 including a triple.
FOR THE FOES
- Michael Pritts (0-1) suffered the loss, allowing seven runs, three earned, on three hits, while walking three batters and striking out two.
- Jared Cantu led the Vikings with one hit and two RBIs, while Justin Woolbright finished 1-for-3 with a triple.
UP NEXT
- The Golden Eagles will be back on the diamond this weekend taking on Case Western Reserve in Louisville, Ky. The games are scheduled for 1:00 pm Saturday and 11:00 am and 2:30 pm Sunday on the turf at DeSales High School. Game times are subject to change due to rain.
