Spalding wins in overtime, 89-82, over Webster

WEBSTER GROVES, Mo.. – The Spalding women's basketball team won in overtime, 89-82, over Webster.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the first quarter, Spalding started off strong and quick. Megan Goeing dropped a three-pointer within the first ten seconds. However, Webster managed to take a one-point lead going into the second quarter.
- In the second quarter, the Golden Eagles struggled and fell behind, going into halftime at a 12 point deficit to the Gorlocks.
- In the third quarter, Spalding started fighting back, but the points were going back and forth. However, they ultimately went into the final quarter down 15 points.
- The fourth period started out strong with Hunter Wright sinking a jumper to start them off. Once again, there was some trading of points until the Golden Eagles started burying three-pointers, one by Maleah Hirn, one by Allison Just. They continued fighting to close the gap with a strong defense and ultimately a free throw by Wright tied them up at 72-72 with just 45 seconds left in the game. The Gorlocks weren't able to get back to the net, pushing them into overtime.
- The beginning of overtime was led by a three-pointer by Meagan Hayden, quickly followed by a three from the Gorlocks. Ultimately, Spalding was able to take the lead and didn't look back. Their win was secured by two made free throws with 10 seconds left on the clock by Wright.
- Wright led in scoring and rebounds for the night, securing her first double-double of the season, with 23 points and 12 rebounds.
  
FOR THE FOES
- Addison Beussink led for the Gorlocks, also landing a double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds.
