THE BASICS
THE SCORE: Centre 74 – Spalding 67
LOCATION: Alumni Gym | Danville, KY
RECORDS: Spalding 2-3 | Centre 2-3

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the first quarter, Spalding struggled to find a basket missing their first six field goal attempts, but held the Colonels in check allowing just four points during the four-minute drought. Eventually, Maleah Hirn got a three-pointer to fall tying the game at four points apiece, but Centre outscored Spalding, 11-7 to end the period taking a 15-11 leading into the second quarter.

- Mirroring the first quarter, the Golden Eagles opened the second with six consecutive missed shots allowing the Colonels to balloon their lead to nine points, 21-12, following a Kat Wilson made jumper at the 7:56 mark. The Golden Eagles still trailed by nine with just over two minutes to play in the quarter, but strung together a 4-0 spurt on layups by Kendyl Powell and Kailey Reed cutting the margin two five points at the half.

- The Golden Eagles looked to have carried the momentum at the end of the second quarter into the third quarter scoring five points in the first 59 seconds tying the game, 29-29, following another Hirn three-pointer. However, the shots stopped falling and Centre responded with a 9-0 run capped off by an Abigail Wehby jumper. A Hunter Wright jumper trimmed the deficit to seven with 3:44 to go in the period, but Centre outscored SU, 8-4, over the next 2:22 push their lead to 11 points with 1:22 remaining. Allison Just knocked down a jumper at the 1:12 mark cutting Centre's lead to nine, but the Golden Eagles went 0-for-4 from the free throw line and missed a jumper to head into the final 10 minutes trailing, 48-39.

- In the fourth quarter, four straight points by Wright jumpstarted an 8-0 Spalding run slicing the Centre lead to one point, 48-47, with 7:10 remaining in regulation. Nevertheless, the Colonels punched back with a 19-9 run over the next six minutes and made their free throws down the stretch to fend off a Spalding comeback attempt.

- Hirn led all Spalding players with 16 points, but struggled from the field connecting on 5-of-17 field goal attempts. Hunter Wright also finished in double figures tallying 13 points and 7 rebounds. Breanna Anthony finished with 9 points to go along with 8 assists, while Allison Just pulled down a team-best 10 rebounds, but struggled to find her rhythm finishing with 7 points on 2-of-9 shooting from the field. Junior Hannah Renfro had an efficient game scoring 8 points on 4-of-7 shooting in 22 minutes of action.

- Kat Wilson led the way for the Colonels dropping a game-high 19 points, while Wehby tacked on 18 points and Mikayla Fee cleaned up the boards with 14 rebounds.
