LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Spalding women's basketball team dropped to Transylvania 57-79 in season opener.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Golden Eagles started off slow trailing the Pioneers until a three-pointer by
Allison Just at 6:53 in the first quarter, put them in the lead 9-7. After some back and forth,
Maleah Hirn secured a jumper putting them in a three-point lead. Transylvania fired back with a 5-0 run taking back the lead, until a jumper in the paint by
Hannah Renfro tied the game back up 13-13. After that, the Pioneers went on another 6-point run and didn't look back.
- The Eagles fell behind but managed to keep it within 10 points until the third quarter with 2:18 left. Despite the Golden Eagles best efforts, the Pioneers were able to pull away and secure their win in the fourth quarter.

Maleah Hirn led the Golden Eagles with 17 points, five rebounds, and six assists.
Allison Just also managed to secure 13 points, six rebounds, and two steals.
FOR THE FOES
- The Pioneers were led by Shelby Boyle who landed 22 points, three blocks, and six rebounds. Ashton Woodward was able to place 14 points and was 100% from the free-throw line for the night.
