SAUGET, Ill. – The Spalding University baseball team wrapped up the regular season falling, 6-2 and 7-5, to #15 ranked Webster Saturday in Sauget, Ill. The Golden Eagles finish the regular season with a 30-10 overall record and 16-6 mark in SLIAC play earning the #1 seed in the East Division in the SLIAC Tournament May 10-12 in Greenville, Ill.

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS
Trailing 1-0 after two innings, the Golden Eagles answered with a pair of runs in the top of the third to take a 2-1 lead. Garrett Wilson reached on a single, Matt Harper doubled sending Wilson to third, and Clay Kelly followed with a two-run double to left center bringing Wilson and Harper across the plate.
GAME ONE NOTABLE STATS
Kelly went 2-for-4 including a double and two runs batted in to lead the Golden Eagles.
Eric Meyer and Garrett Wilson each tallied a pair of hits. Meyer finished 2-for-3, while Wilson hit 2-for-4 with a run scored.
Jimi Keating (8-1) suffered his first loss of the season, giving up six runs, on nine hits, while striking out three batters, in 5.2 innings pitched.
FOR THE FOES
Mike Wick led the Gorloks going 4-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored.
Matt Mulhearn (8-2) earned the win holding SU to two runs, on nine hits, while striking out 10 batters.
GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS
Trailing 2-0 in heading into the third, Spalding responded with a two-run third to tie the game, 2-2. Ian Woodall hit a solo homer to right center to get SU on the scoreboard. Blake Benz reached on a walk, moved to second on a wild pitch and Clay Kelly drove him in with a single to left field.
Kelly drove in his second run of the game in the fifth to put the Golden Eagles in front, 3-2. Quenton Brownlee reached on a fielding error at third, stole second and Kelly brought him across the plate with single up the middle.
After five Gorlok runs in the eighth, SU trailed 7-3. The Golden Eagles would not go out without a fight plating two run, but could not pull off the rally. Benz grounded out to first scoring Isaac Lineberry from third for the first run, and Clay Kelly singled to left center scoring Woodall for the final run of the game.
GAME TWO NOTABLE STATS
Clay Kelly drove in three runs going 3-for-5 at the plate.
Cody Milliner, Ian Woodall and Quenton Brownlee each went 2-for-4 on the day, with Woodall hitting a home run and scoring two runs.
Jack Parisi (5-2) suffered the loss allowing five runs, on five hits, while striking out five batters and walking three, in 7.1 innings pitched.
FOR THE FOES
Ben Sword led Webster at the plate going 2-for-4 with three runs batted in.
Shane Donovan (6-0) earned the win allowing two runs, on four hits, while striking out one batter, in 2.0 innings pitched.
