LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Spalding University softball team opened conference play Friday splitting a doubleheader with Greenville. The Golden Eagles fell, 8-4, in game one, but bounced back taking game two, 5-2.

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS
Trailing 2-0 in the second, Kaylin Rucker hit a solo home run to left field cutting the SU deficit to one run.
Following a pair of Greenville runs in the third, freshman Olivia Carter hit an RBI single to right field scoring Jaycee Head to make the score, 4-2.
Down 8-2, the Golden Eagles attempted to rally in the sixth. Freshman Abby Booker hit a home run to left, and Grace Sweat drove in Rucker with a sacrifice fly to right field for the final run of the game.
GAME ONE STAT LEADERS
Kaylin Rucker and Olivia Carter led the Golden Eagles at the plate both going 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Amber Kilburn (3-5) suffered the loss allowing eight runs, seven earned, on 14 hits, while striking out four batters and walking two, in seven innings pitched.
FOR THE FOES
Becca Oldham went 3-for-4 with four runs batted in to lead the Greenville hitters.
Caitie Opp (3-3) earned the win, allowing four runs, on nine hits, while striking out three batters in 5.1 innings pitched.
GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS
After two Panther runs in the top of the first, the Golden Eagles answered with a three-spot in the bottom of the inning. Kaylin Rucker hit a three-run home run over the wall in right center scoring Ally Klein and Olivia Carter.
The Golden Eagles added a run in the third. Jaycee Head led off the inning with a single, stole second, moved to third on a Carter groundout and raced home on a wild pitch.
SU added an insurance run in the fifth when Caroline Hale singled to left field bringing Rucker in from second.
GAME TWO STAT LEADERS
Kaylin Rucker had an outstanding game accounting for all five Golden Eagles runs. Rucker scored two runs and drove in three on a 2-for-2 performance at the plate.
Olivia Carter (3-3) earned the victory holding Greenville to two runs, on four hits, while striking out three batters and walking two in a complete game effort.
FOR THE FOES
Josie Koontz and Kate Jolliff-Rosado led the Panthers with one hit and one run apiece.
Cayla Speaks (0-3) suffered the loss allowing three runs, on two hits, throwing two wild pitches and in 0.1 of an inning.
