LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Spalding University baseball team had their 11 game win streak snapped falling to Thomas More, 11-9, Wednesday afternoon at Derby City Field.

HIGHLIGHTS
Trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the fifth, freshman Jacob Reece hit a solo home run over the left field wall to cut the deficit to one run.
In the third, Reece drove in Kyle Stevens to tie the game, 2-2, and came home on Thomas More throwing error to first to put SU in from, 3-2.
Facing a 10-3 deficit following eight Saints runs, Spalding responded with a five-run bottom of the eighth to cut Thomas More's lead to two. Stevens singled down the right field line scoring Eric Meyer for the first run of the inning, and Garrett Wilson followed with a two-run double driving in Matt Harper and Stevens. A pair of singles from Dillon Sievert and Clay Kelly drove in SU's final two runs of the inning.
The Golden Eagles looked to get out of a jam in the ninth when Reece fired a ball from right field to Isaac Lineberry at home plate on what looked like a good tag on a slide attempt at the edge of the batter's box. However, the home plate umpire called the runner safe resulting in three-run Saints lead heading into the bottom of the ninth.
In the bottom of the ninth, another Stevens' single drove in Harper to cut the deficit to two runs, but Reece struck out and Quenton Brownlee was thrown out at third on a Wilson fielder's choice to end the game.
STAT LEADERS
Kyle Stevens led the Golden Eagles at the plate going 3-for-5 with two runs batted in and two runs scored.
Garrett Wilson drove in a pair of runs going 3-for-6 with a double and a run scored.
In his first collegiate start, Jacob Reece went 2-for-5 including a home run and a double with two RBI and two runs scored.
Zach Jones (1-1) was tagged with the loss after giving up five runs, on 10 hits, while striking out three batters in 6 and 1/3 innings pitched.
FOR THE FOES
Jacob Whitford was on fire at the plate going a perfect 5-for-5 with two runs batted in and four runs scored.
Jordan Houze (3-0) earned the win allowing five runs, four earned, on nine hits in 7 and 1/3 innings pitched.
