Golden Eagles Fall to Pikeville and Lycoming in Myrtle Beach

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – After cancellations due to rain Monday, the Golden Eagles took to the diamond Tuesday falling to Pikeville, 9-1, and Lycoming, 8-0, to drop to 1-5 on the season.

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS
  • Ally Klein reached base with a single in the bottom of the fourth, stole second, moved to third on the passed ball and scored on a Jennifer Peffley ground out to second.

  • GAME ONE STAT LEADERS
  • Ally Klein registered SU's only hit of the game going 1-for-2 with a run scored and one stolen base.

  • Amber Kilburn (1-3) suffered the loss allowing six runs, on eight hits, in 2.0 innings pitched.

  • FOR THE FOES
  • Hannah Skaggs (6-3) earned the victory holding Spalding to one run, on one hit, while striking out four in 5.0 innings.

  • Megan Claypool led the Bears going 3-for-5 with three RBI.

  • GAME TWO STAT LEADERS
  • Laken Heavner, Lexie Shoup, Olivia Carter and Sam Klein each went 1-for-4, and Heavner added a stolen base.  

  • Olivia Carter (0-2) took the loss allowing eight runs, four earned, while striking out five batters in 4.1 innings.
  • FOR THE FOES
  • Rachel Shady went 2-for-4 with two RBI to lead Lycoming at the plate.

  • Liz Nace (1-0) pitched five shutout innings limiting SU batters to four hits, while striking out two.

  • The Golden Eagles wrap up in Myrtle Beach with three games tomorrow taking on the University of St. Joseph at 9:30 am, Sarah Lawrence at 11:30 am and cap off the day against Lesley at 3:30 pm.
