MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Spalding softball went 1-1 in their opening games at the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The Golden Eagles opened with a 7-4 win over NCAA Division II opponent Shaw University, but fell to Saint Joseph in, 3-0, in game two.

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS
- The Golden Eagles jumped Shaw early with a six-run first inning. Jennifer Peffley scored on a passed ball for the first run of the game. Callie Janek made it 4-0 with a three-run triple driving in Grace Sweat, Olivia Carter and Laken Heavner, and Janek came home on an error by the right fielder. Alley Klein singled bringing Abby Booker across the plate for the final run of the inning.
- After four Bear runs, Carter singled driving in Addison Morris from second to make the final margin, 7-4.
GAME ONE STAT LEADERS
- Callie Janek led Spalding at the plate going 1-for-2 with a triple and three RBI.
- Olivia Carter went 2-for-2 with one RBI and a run scored.
- Amber Kilburn earned the win allowing one earned run, on 10 hits while striking out two batters.
FOR THE FOES
- Amanda Ortiz and Zahrea Lewis led Shaw hitters both going 3-for-4.
- Sheniq Fahie suffered the loss allowing seven runs, on 10 hits, while striking out six.
GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS
- Carline Hale, Jennifer Peffley and Olivia Carter led Spalding with one hit each, with Hale hitting a double in the fifth inning.
FOR THE FOES
- Brianna Barfield went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
- Alessandra Milardo pitched seven shutout innings limiting the Golden Eagles to three hits while striking out five.
