LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Spalding men's basketball team scored a season-high 112 points, but it was not enough as the Golden Eagles fell to Greenville, 129-112, Wednesday night at Derek Smith Gymnasium. The Golden Eagles drop to 9-14 on the season and 7-10 in SLIAC competition, while the SLIAC leading Panthers improved to 16-8 and 13-4 in SLIAC play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Golden Eagles and Panthers battled back and forth over the first 9:32 resulting in 10 lead changes. Dominique Ellis hit a pair of free throws and Brandon Williams converted a layup in transition to push SU to a 31-28 lead. However, the Panthers went on to outscore Spalding 34-26 the remainder of the half to take a 62-57 lead into halftime. Greenville stretched their lead to nine points early in the fourth, but five straight points from Brendan Holt got the Golden Eagles within six points. Nevertheless, the Panthers outscored Spalding 46-21 over the next 10 minutes to put the game out of reach, as SU fell, 129-112.
Brendan Holt led Spalding scoring a career-high 27 points going 11-of-26 from the field. Dominique Ellis finished with 26 points, eight rebounds and six assists, while Brandon Williams added 19 points and eight rebounds.
The biggest factor in the game was the chaos the Panthers caused on defense forcing 40 Golden Eagle turnovers.

Johari Dix paced the Panthers with 32 points, seven assists and five steals.
