LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Spalding men's basketball team dropped their home opener to Berea College, 71-65, to fall to 0-3 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Golden Eagles shot 38.2 percent from the field and used a plus-seven rebound margin to take a 34-30 lead into halftime. However, the Mountaineers caught fire in the second half shooting 53.8 percent from the field and forced 10 Golden Eagle turnovers to escape with the win.
- Three Golden Eagles finished in double-figures led by
Marcus Montgomery's 25 points. Despite being limited due to foul trouble,
Robert Bendingfield had a solid all-around game finishing with 10 points, six rebounds and six assists.
FOR THE FOES
- Torell Carter led the Berea with a team-high 24 points; Isaac Caudill added 18 points and Deandre Lightfoot finished with 10 points.
