LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Spalding University softball team fell to Webster University, 14-2, in the second game of their doubleheader. The win improves the Gorloks to a 13-8 overall record. The loss drops the Golden Eagles to a 6-5 overall record. Alexis Spriggs (2-3) picked up the win, while
Olivia Leet (3-2) was handed the loss.
Samantha Klein had a solid day at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a solo home run.
Kaylin Rucker went 1-for-3 with an RBI.
Lindsey Hubbard went 1-for-3 with a run scored.
Brianna Eatmon and
Caroline Hale each went 1-for-2.
Webster scored early and often in this one as they started the game by putting up four runs in the top of the first inning, including home runs from Katelyn Johnson and Kayla Day. The Gorloks put up one in the second, three in the third, two in the fourth, and four in the fifth, as the Eagles could not keep them from crossing home plate. Golden Eagle pitching surrendered six home runs as the Gorloks went on to a lopsided victory.
The Golden Eagles will be back in action tomorrow, April 2
nd, as they welcome Westminster College to Holy Cross field in doubleheader action. First pitch of game one is scheduled for 2 pm EST.
