LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Spalding University baseball team fell to Kalamazoo College, 15-6, Sunday afternoon at Derby City Field. The loss drops the Golden Eagles to a 7-2 overall record, while the Hornets improve to 3-0. Senior Cole Slamko (1-1) was hit with the loss, Jack Taggert (1-0) earned the win.

The Hornets drew first blood in the top of the first on an Ian Kobernick RBI single. The Eagles responded with a run of their own in the bottom half of the first. Spalding then took the lead in the next inning as they put up three runs. Kalamazoo responded in the fourth and fifth innings, as they scored nine unanswered runs, including a three-run home run off the bat of Mitch VanKoevering. There was not much Golden Eagle pitching could do against the Hornets' bats as they surrendered sixteen hits and issued seven walks on the day, as the Hornets went on to victory.

The Golden Eagle Nine will be back in action on Wednesday, March 8th, as they welcome Transylvania University to Derby City Field. First pitch is scheduled for 6 pm EST.
