Women's Basketball Falls to Westminster, 65-56

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Spalding women's basketball team dropped their second conference game of the season to Westminster, 65-56. The loss drops the Golden Eagles to 2-6 overall with a 1-2 record in SLIAC play, while Westminster improves to 5-3 with a 2-1 conference record.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Blue Jays jumped on the Golden Eagles early playing to a 23-11 lead at the end of the first quarter, and extended the margin to 16 points heading in to halftime. Westminster pushed their lead to as many as 20 points in the second half, the Golden Eagles made a strong run during the fourth quarter cutting the Blue Jay lead to eight points with 1:38. Nevertheless, it was too little too late as SU fell, 65-56.
 
- Alex Martin led the Eagles with 13 points on just 5-of-14 shooting from the field. Lelanda Mathews also contributed with 11 points, while adding four blocks defensively.
 
- Spalding finished the game shooting 33.9% overall and struggled from the three-point line going 3-of-21 on the day. The Blue Jays shot 41.2% for the game shooting 4-of-10 from the three-point line, while converting 19-of-23 attempts from the foul line.
 
FOR THE FOES
- Kendahl Adams led the Blue Jays with a double-double recording 19 points and 12 rebounds. Mirrakohl Johnson added 15 points and six rebonds.

- The Golden Eagles will be back in action Saturday afternoon taking on MacMurry College. Tipoff is 2:00 pm EST in Jacksonville, Ill.
