LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Spalding University women's basketball team rolled to a 79-52 win over MacMurray College Saturday in Jacksonville, Ill. The Golden Eagles improve to 3-6 overall and 2-2 in SLIAC play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Spalding took the lead on an
Alex Martin layup with 4:08 to play in the first quarter and never looked back. SU led 20-15 after one quarter, but held the Highlanders to seven points in the second quarter taking a 35-22 lead into halftime. The margin stayed at 13 until late in the third quarter when SU outscored Mac 8-2 over the final two minutes to stretch their lead to 19 points. A pair of
Mackenzie Myers free throws pushed the gap to 20 points and the Golden Eagles went on to win 79-52.

Alex Martin turned in a solid all-around performance scoring a game-high 17 points, while adding 11 rebounds and 7 assists.
Megan Goeing added 12 points, while
Allison Just and Myers scored 10 apiece.
- The Golden Eagles finished the game shooting 39.4% overall, but the big difference was turnovers. SU forced 20 Highlander turnovers leading to 23 points.
FOR THE FOES
- Shelby Fink paced Mac with 11 points and Liz Kruemmelbein added a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

-The Golden Eagles will be back in action Wednesday at the Daytona Beach Classic. SU opens up with a 3 PM tilt versus Westminster (PA), and wrap up the week against Worcester Polytechnic Thursday at 1 PM.
