LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Spalding University women's basketball team fell to Worcester Polytechnic Institute, 64-44, at the Daytona Beach Classic Thursday. The Golden Eagles record drops to 4-7 on the season, while WPI improves to 7-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- A tough shooting performance led to a 20-point loss for the Golden Eagles. SU shot just 22.6% from the field in the first half helping WPI take a 13-point lead into the halftime break. SU got it going in the third quarter outscoring WPI 16-14. A pair of
Micaiah Bowden free throws trimmed the SU deficit to eight points, but WPI answered with a three-pointer just before the end of the quarter pushing the margin back to 11 points. Nevertheless, WPI went on to outscore the Golden Eagles 17-8 over the final 10 minutes to top SU, 64-44.

Tselem Gahagan paced the Golden Eagles offense with 13 points going 5-of-9 from the field, while adding six rebounds.
Megan Goeing was the only other Spalding player in double digits finishing with 10 points. Jenna Thronhill corralled a team-high eight rebounds to go along with seven points.
OR THE FOES
- Ama Biney and Madison Beck led WPI with 17 points apiece. Biney also added a game-high 10 rebounds earning a double-double.
