LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Spalding University women's basketball team stormed back from a 10-point halftime deficit to top Westminster (PA), 64-52, in game one of the Daytona Beach Classic. The Golden Eagles improve to 4-6 on the season, while Westminster drops to 3-7.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- SU opened the game hot jumping out to a seven-point lead on layups by
Mackenzie Myers and
Alex Martin, and a three-pointer by
Allison Just. However, Westminster closed the gap eventually taking a 13-12 lead at the 2:21 mark and a Kayla Bennett layup gave the Titans, 19-16 lead after one quarter. The Golden Eagles went cold from the field in the second quarter shooting 31% allowing Westminster to balloon their lead to 13 points with 1:15 to play. Tselem Gahagen hit a big three-pointer before the horn to cut the SU deficit to 10 points shifting momentum heading into halftime. Both teams exchanged three-pointers to start the second half. Trailing 40-30, a Just three-pointer ignited a 20-2 Spalding run over the final 7:54 of the third quarter to send SU into the final quarter leading, 50-42. Westminster cut SU's lead to seven points with 4:47 to go, but the Golden Eagles went on to pull away and a pair of
Jenna Thornhill free throws made the final margin, 64-52.

Allison Just paced the Golden Eagles with 14 points on 4-of-5 shooting from beyond the arc, while
Alex Martin added 13 points, 5 assists and 6 steals.
Megan Goeing Goeing also finished in double figures scoring 12 points, while adding 4 rebounds and 4 steals.
- The key stats to the game were three-point shooting and turnovers. The Golden Eagles outgunned the Titans 50% to 30.4% from beyond the arc and forced 23 turnovers resulting in 15 points off turnovers.

- Emily Fromknecht led the Titans with 10 points, 8 rebounds and 6 blocks.
