Golden Eagles Win SLIAC Home Opener, 65-51

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Spalding women's basketball team chalks up their first conference win of the 2017 season with a convincing victory over Iowa Wesleyan, 65-51. With the win, the Golden Eagles improve to 2-5 overall and 1-1 in SLIAC play. The loss drops the Tiger to 0-7 and 0-1 in conference competition.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Spalding jumped out to an early lead behind a 5-of-5 mark from three-point range playing to a 13-point lead after the first quarter and never looked back. The Golden Eagles would continue to roll in the second half extending their lead a game-high 18 points before winning, 65-51.
 
- Allison Just led the Golden Eagles with 20 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the field. Alex Martin contributed with an all-around performance tallying 13 points, eight assists and seven rebounds.
 
- Spalding finished the game shooting 37.1% overall and while having a strong game from the three-point line going 10 for 22 on the night. The Tigers shot 29.6% for the game, while struggling from beyond the arc shooting 31.3%
 
FOR THE FOES
- Josie Zerrusen had 21 points going 4-of-8 from the three-point line. Darby Massner also contributed another 14 points and seven assists.
