ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Spalding women's basketball team dropped a hard fought conference game, 70-67, to Fontbonne University Wednesday evening. The loss drops the Golden Eagles record to 1-5 overall and 0-1 in SLIAC play, while Fontbonne improves to 4-3 and 1-0 in conference.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Spalding took the lead as they went into the half up by one over Fontbonne 36-35. Unfortunately, a slow going third quarter for the Golden Eagles found them down by six going into the fourth which ultimately led to the Griffins winning by a final score of 70-67.

Megan Goeing led the Golden Eagles with 15 points while
Lelanda Matthews also added 13 to the efforts. Matthews and
Mackenzie Myers each helped the Golden Eagle cause with nine boards apiece on the night.
- Spalding finished the game shooting 40.8% overall and struggled from the three-point line going 7-of-27 on the night. The Griffins shot 43.9% for the game, while also struggling from beyond the arc going just 9-of-27.
FOR THE FOES
- Paige Black stood out for Fontbonne as she led them in scoring with 23 points on 8-of-20 shooting. Raven Venegas also contributed with 15 points for Fontbonne.
