THE BASICS
THE SCORE: Centre 55 – Spalding 53
LOCATION: Alumni Gymnasium, Danville, Ky.
RECORD: Spalding 1-3, Centre 3-0

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Spalding trailed 8-0 early, but rallied to cut Centre's lead to two at the end of the first quarter. SU saw the deficit grow to seven at halftime following a 2-for-12 shooting performance in the second quarter. SU bounced back in the third quarter behind seven points from Allison Just outscoring the Colonels 19-7 taking a 39-34 lead into the fourth. SU extended their lead to seven on a Lelanda Matthews layup with 5:04 to play. A Madison Rice layup sparked a 6-0 Centre run making it a one-point game with 3:26 remaining. A pair of Rice free throws put Centre in front at the 1:30 mark, but L Matthews converted 1-of-2 at the free throw line to tie the game 53-53 on SU's next possession. On Centre's next possession, Matthews blocked the Colonels Kathleen Wilson, but Abigale Stewart was there to corral the rebound for the put back with nine seconds remaining, and Alex Martin's tying layup would miss the mark as the Golden Eagles fell, 55-53.

- Mackenzie Myers and Megan Goeing led Spalding with 10 points apiece, while Alex Martin, Allison Just and Lelanda Matthews added nine each. Matthews also added 14 rebounds and six blocks.

- Spalding finished the game shooting 40% overall, but struggled from the three-point line going 1-of-10 on the night. Centre shot 32.8% for the game, while finishing with a 41.7% mark from beyond the arc.

FOR THE FOES
