WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Spalding women's basketball team stormed back in the fourth quarter, but fell short against Wilmington, 85-74, in the championship game of the Damon's/Hampton Inn Tipoff Tournament in Wilmington, Ohio. The loss drops SU to 1-2, while Wilmington improves to 2-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Golden Eagles got off to a slow start falling behind 32-20 after one quarter. The Quakers kept their foot on the gas to start the second outscoring SU, 24-6, to balloon their lead to 30 points. Spalding answered with a 7-0 spurt to end the half cutting the margin to 23 at the break. SU locked down on defense in the third quarter holding Wilmington to 38.8% shooting the quarter, but the Golden Eagles could not capitalize as they went ice cold shooting 20% from the field. Despite being down 25 points, SU clawed their way back cutting the deficit to 11 points at the final horn.

Allison Just had an outstanding shooting performance, leading all scorers with 20 points shooting 87.5% from the field, including a perfect 5-for-5 from beyond the arc.
Alex Martin and
Megan Goeing both added 10 points apiece.

Lelanda Matthews led SU on the boards with seven rebounds while also scoring seven points.
Tselem Gahagan and Martin both passed out four assists.
- For the game, Spalding shot 41.9% overall and 43.5% from beyond the arc, while Wilimington finished with a 48.5% mark and 50% from the three-point line.
FOR THE FOES
- McKayla Binkley paced Wilmington with 15 points, while Savannah Hopper added 12 points.
