RAONOKE, Va. – The Spalding men's basketball team notched their first win of the season topping Bluffton, 65-63, in the consolation game at the Dick Leftwich Tournament in Roanoke, Va. With the win, the Golden Eagles improve to 1-2, while Bluffton falls to 0-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Golden Eagles jumped on the Beavers early racing out to a 14-point lead when a
Brendan Holt layup put SU ahead, 27-13, at the 7:40 mark in the first half. Bluffton closed the half on a 15-4 run to cut SU's margin to three at the break, 31-28. The two teams battled back and forth in the second half exchanging the lead five times. Holt put the Golden Eagles in front for good converting a layup as the shot clock expired to earn SU the 65-63 win.
- Robert Bendingfield led Spalding with 15 points and six assists.
Cornelius Watts added 14 points, while
Dominique Ellis scored 11 points and grabbed five rebounds.
- For the game, Spalding shot 48% overall and 46.2% from beyond the arc, while Bluffton finished at 44.1% mark and 43.8% from the three-point line.
FOR THE FOES
- Jared Wentling scored a game-high 22 points to lead the Beavers, while Kevin Christie added 15 points respectively.
